A Benchmark of Excellence: Hiba Nursery's EY3 Achievements

12 Jul 2024

At Hiba Nursery we are delighted to share some of our data to illustrate the incredible achievements of our EY3 cohort, measured using data standardised with the UK.

Firstly, in English our phonics data for the 2024-2025 academic year has shown not only a big upwards trend from year-on-year data but also is extremely impressive in its own right. At Hiba Nursery we use the Read, Write Inc Phonics system which allows our staff to access training, use research-based materials and compare our results with children in the UK. This year, for pupils who completed thefull EY3 year, we saw 93% of our pupils reaching the UK national standards with 62% of the total exceeding them.

Another area of assessment for our pupils comes through the Early Learning Goals (ELGs), which are used by all schools in England to track children’s achievement before they begin Year One (EY4). In our Nursery 92% achieved or exceeded the ELG for Maths, 95% for Physical Development and 91% for Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

Our outcomes for Personal, social and emotional at 87% reflect the emphasis Wellington College Hangzhou places on our values and on ensuring that our pupils develop into well-rounded individuals who are confident, caring and motivated.

In addition, for Chinese Communication and Language and Literacy, which are not UK standardised but are moderated across our Wellington China schools, 89% and 91% of our pupils achieved or exceeded our goals respectively.

We are extremely proud to be providing our children with such a solid foundation of learning in their early years, our educational practise underpinned by the most up-to-date research into how young children learn and develop, including being heavily influenced by the world-renowned Reggio Emilia approach.
