Every parent becomes a member of Friends of Wellington upon joining the nursery. Friends of Wellington (FoW) is an association which includes all parents and teachers, plus other members of the nursery community. It meets regularly and consistently contributes to making life at the nursery vibrant, not just for the pupils but for the whole community, by working to bring people together to share, learn and to celebrate. Friends of Wellington is an integral part of nursery life and is the driving force behind many of the annual highlights of our calendar. The executive committee comprises of the following positions:
Early in the first semester we will be asking parents to be a part of our FoW and Parents’ Committee. The aim of our FoW is to support the school by arranging a number of educational, cultural and social events during the year; to aid the school to offer more opportunities for pupils to engage in activities linked to social services, career development and leadership development; and to raise funds for school activities. These events will provide rich experiences for all at the school. FoW is a flexible organisation which encourages parents and members from our wider community to engage with the school in many varied ways. Parents on the FoW committee will also be asked to act as the school’s parents’ committee. They will provide us with the parents’ voice; an invaluable source of suggestions, opinion and feedback which will cover all aspects of school life.
We elect the parent representatives through voluntary registration and democratic voting. Together with the principal, they form the Friends of Wellington Committee, who coordinate many wonderful events to enrich pupils’ campus life, such as the Winter Fair, Summer Carnival and Annual Ball.

PARENTS AS PARTNERS
Parents are the first and most important influence on their child’s development and future outcomes. The interactions that take place in the home environment have more influence on a child’s future achievement than innate ability or material circumstances. Seeking to engage parents in pastoral care and school life as much as possible, Hiba Academy Hangzhou values the role of parents and families in children’s development.

Choosing an education for their child has always been an important decision for Chinese families. Parents entrust their child to us and we, in return, need to ensure that we actively engage with them. Parents choose to enrol their child at the nursery because they believe in our philosophy and share the same values. Our parents value the Hiba identity and desire this end result of a Hiba education for their children.
Successful education requires a three-way commitment of nursery, parents and pupils. Therefore, we view parents as close partners and members of the Hiba family, and we desire to ensure that they feel the same strong sense of belonging as our pupils and staff. Hiba is a community, whose success will largely rely on all three groups working together to achieve the mutually desired goals for your children and our pupils.
