Meet Our New Teachers

13 Oct 2020

It is with great delight that we are able to warmly welcome and introduce to you our newly arrived teachers Ms Delphine, Ms Rose and Ms Melanie. We hope that you enjoy learning more about why they chose to join Huili Nursery Hangzhou, their views on what excellent early years education is and their very first impressions of our Nursery and Wellington College China!

What attracted you to working with the learning community at our Nursery?

I was attracted by the strong Huili pupil identity and I resonated with the core values of the Nursery. With courage, opportunities will always be open to the children that we teach. A kind-hearted individual will always have friends and support. Respectful qualities for oneself and others will form the foundation of all positive relationships and experiences. Everything is within reach for a child who grows with independence. At the heart of an individual with integrity, ethical, compassionate and successful choices, perspective and conduct will arise. I wanted to be part of a Huili child’s core value journey.

What were your very first impressions of Huili Nursery Hangzhou and Wellington College Hangzhou?

I noticed how welcoming, friendly and helpful all the staff were and the beautiful, inspiring spaces for learning. It is refreshingly motivating for myself to be in such expansive surroundings – I feel my mind can be further expanded to enrich my interactions with Huili children.

How will your experiences and expertise as an early years educator contribute to our bi-lingual Nursery?

I intend to utilise my UK teacher training; time spent in a dynamic Nursery there; bilingual learning and co-teaching experience; special needs and therapy background.I have a particular interest and knowledge in childhood patterns of behaviour; pre-writing skills and emotional intelligence / wellbeing. I believe the Huili environment will bring my skills to the forefront and benefit each child to move them forward and prepare them for EY2.

What attracted you to working with the learning community at our Nursery?

The philosophies and ethos at Huili Nursery Hangzhou are perfectly aligned with my own beliefs in a how a child should begin their learning journey. Allowing the children opportunities to explore their own interests and develop skills, is a perfect way to allow children to develop a love of learning. This combined with the bilingual aspect was the big attraction for me wanting to work at Huili Nursery Hangzhou.

What were your very first impressions of Huili Nursery Hangzhou and Wellington College Hangzhou?

I was in awe of the amazing environment, space, light and the resources available. Huili Nursery Hangzhou is a fantastic space which provides children with everything they need for their Early Years education. There was a very welcoming atmosphere, and I could see immediately how absorbed the children were in their learning throughout the whole school.

How will your experiences and expertise as an early years educator contribute to our bilingual Nursery?

I believe that my experiences in Early Years will support the children in having the best start to their learning journey. My previous experience in Early Years has taught me to use the children’s interests to help them develop key skills and become curious learners. Through my English teaching, I will be supporting the children in developing their language enabling them to have a rich and enhanced learning experience.
